Council Fat Cat car park disgrace

The top Lib Dem's 16 highly paid executives all get cheap, subsidised parking at the Civic Centre as well.

Today, the coalition calls on them to make the top floor of the Civic Centre car park a public car park - which would generate an extra £80,000 for the council and strip their Fat Cat executives of their parking subsidy.

Lots of people don't know that most council money comes from central government and local charges, like for car parks. Surely the Lib Dem's should respond to our local grassroots campaign and cut the waste by opening up the Main Civic upstairs car park from Monday to Friday. Maybe we could protect frontline jobs, or not put up care charges for old and vulnerable people, with the extra money?

Cut the directors, cut the waste

Since 2004, when the Lib Dems took control of the Council, the management bill for directors has risen from £637,000 to £1,663,000.

This is mainly due to the number of new Director posts created by the Lib Dems, including:

Deputy Chief Executive
Assistant Chief Executive / Director of Policy
Executive Director of Children’s Services
Director of Children’s Services (Delivery Outcome)
Director of Children’s Services (Planning and Performance)
Director of Adult Services
Executive Director of Environment and Regeneration
Director of Area based Regeneration
Director of Street Planning, Transportation and Housing
Director of Regulatory Services and Public Protection
Director of Technical Services
Director of Resources and Performance
Director of Communications

Lets cut the waste, and cut local hard working families council tax. Sign the petition here:

Nick Forbes supports campaign

Nick said today:

"Band D residents are paying nearly £150 a year more since the Lib Dems came to power, yet services have been cut every year and quality is falling. We have signed up to the coalition because we believe that by cutting waste and improving value for money the Lib Dems shouldn't have to take more money from hard working families and pensioners in the city."

"We also want to stop the Lib Dems making inflation-busting rent increases for council tenants and increasing charges for older people."
